Woman, 78, Dies in Fire at Senior Living Complex

The fire broke out about noon Sunday at the Westhaven Manor in Westland. The cause remains under investigation.

A fire at a senior citizens residential complex in Westland Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a 78-year-old resident.

The fire reportedly started in the pantry of a Westhaven Manor unit occupied by the woman and her husband, who was not injured, WDIV-TV reports.

The fire broke out about noon at the complex on Elwood Street near the intersection of Ford and Wayne roads, the report said.

No one else was injured, though several units in the complex have water dage.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
