• New guidelines expand food assistance for Oakland County Families (legalnews.com) — Oakland County families, including those in Pontiac, may now qualify for WIC food assistance under higher federal income limits. Two WIC locations in Pontiac—the North Oakland Health Center and OLHSA on Cesar E. Chavez—offer nutrition support, breastfeeding help, and monthly food benefits to pregnant women, new parents, infants, and young children across the county.

• Trench collapses on worker in Oxford Township (freep.com subscription) — A construction worker injured in an Oxford Township trench collapse is recovering in stable condition at McLaren Oakland Hospital’s trauma center in Pontiac. Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies quickly freed him from the 9–10 foot trench, and state workplace safety officials are now investigating how the collapse happened and whether proper trench protections were in place.
