• Oakland sheriff's crisis unit gets lifeline after facing uncertainty (detroitnews.com) — Funding for the Oakland County Sheriff’s Crisis Response Unit, based in Pontiac, has been extended through the 2027 fiscal year, keeping its overdose and mental health outreach work going. A unanimous finance committee vote shifted about $500,000 from the county’s general fund, with final budget approval expected Sept. 17. The unit connects overdose survivors with treatment and has reportedly saved hundreds of lives.
