15th Annual Vinni's Children's Charity Golf Outing to be held June 3rd

Fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit

The 15th annual Vinni’s Children’s Charity Golf Outing will take place June 3rd at the Fieldstone Golf Club, 1984 Taylor Road, in Auburn Hills with registration at 8 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9 a.m. This public event includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, continental breakfast, lunch at the turn and dinner. Artist Dave Santia will paint portraits to music, which will be auctioned off, in addition to a silent auction and raffle for special gifts. Admission is $125.00 per golfer, $500 per team.

Each year, a core of 50 golfers who have attended the charity event since it began, join nearly 100 others to hit the links on one of the top-ranked golf courses in Oakland County while supporting a charity that helps families during a time of great need.

The golf outing began as a retirement celebration for Vincent (Vinni) Adranga, and kept on going. Vinni is an avid supporter of children charities. Previously, the golf outing sponsored three charities but it was narrowed down to just the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit. The golf outing is now run by Vinni's son, Cary Adranga, of Rochester Hills.

The event is near and dear to Cary's heart. “It's the toughest thing for parents when their child is in the hospital. They typically don't have access to regular meals, a place to stay and even a shower. They need a break and that's what the House provides - the staff and volunteers take care of parents so they can take care of their kids. They do an unbelievable job by preparing meals, offering support and making sure their needs are met. The staff and volunteers are always there for the families.”

Sponsorships and auction items are still needed to help raise more funds for the House, which is in its final year of the Hearts, Hands and Home expansion campaign. The Southeast Michigan McDonald's Owner/Operator Association (SEMMOA) is the lead sponsor this year, donating $15,000.

Last year’s outing raised more than $40,000 for the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit. Since it began, the event has netted $250,000 for the House. The funds help the House provide rooms, meals and van transportation for families that have critically ill children staying at the Children's Hospital of Michigan and other nearby health facilities.

Executive Director Jennifer Litomisky said, “The House opened its doors to a beautiful new home in April 2015 when expansion at the Children's Hospital of Michigan required use of the space that the former House occupied. The golfing event is one of the ways that we cover the cost of operations.”

A nominal daily fee is charged for guests at the House who have use of a bedroom and common areas, including a kitchen, specially equipped rooms for teens, a play area for young kids, and a beautiful serenity garden. No family is turned away due to a lack of funds.
