2 Rochester Schools Among Michigan's Best: U.S. News Rankings 2016

Both Stoney Creek High School and Rochester Adams made the cut in U.S. News & World Report's annual rankings of top high schools.

ROCHESTER, MI – Two Rochester Community Schools high schools are among the top in Michigan, according to the annual U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools ranking. The 2016 list was released April 18.

Stoney Creek High School ranked 14th in Michigan and 611th nationally. No. 17 Rochester Adams High School ranked 715th among the 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia that were ranked by the magazine.

"Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments, their graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college,” according to U.S. News & World Report, which looked at curriculum, test scores and student demographics.

About Stoney Creek, the magazine said:

"Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams. The AP participation rate at Stoney Creek High School is 62 percent. The student body makeup is 51 percent male and 49 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 15 percent.”

About Rochester Adams, the magazine noted its 57 percent participation rate in AP classes and said:

“The student body makeup is 50 percent male and 50 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 22 percent.”
