INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, MI — A 24-year-old Pontiac man was killed in a crash on the Dixie Highway early Sunday, according to the county's sheriff's office.
The crash happened at 2:01 a.m. Sunday on Dixie Highway, south of Maybee Road in Independence Township, officials said.
Officials said Jeffrey Alejandro Euceda-Cruz was driving a 2010 Nissan GT-R south south on the freeway when he lost control of the car.
The car crossed over into the northbound lanes and struck a curb, rolling over and ejecting Euceda-Cruz from the vehicle, officials said.
Euceda-Cruz was killed in the crash, officials said.
Investigators do not know why Euceda-Cruz lost control of the car. They believe speed played a role in the crash, but were immediately unsure about alcohol.
He was not wearing a seatbelt, officials said.
Officials are still investigating the crash and ask anyone with information to call the Sheriff's Office at 248-858-4950.
