Rochester Hills Resident Receives OCCMHA Hero Award

Rochester Hills resident, Mike Daley, received Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority’s (OCCMHA) April Hero Award at the organization's board meeting on April 16, 2013.

In honor of its 50th Anniversary, OCCMHA is presenting monthly Hero Awards throughout 2013 to individuals who: champion for change, inspire and support others, lead anti-stigma efforts, advocate for equality and independence, and give back to their community.

Daley has been a tremendous asset to the entire Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority family for nearly 19 years. In his current leadership role as OCCMHA
customer service supervisor, he’s highly respected for his ongoing involvement and service toward an improved quality of life for people with a developmental
disability, mental health illness, children with serious emotional disturbance, and individuals with substance use disorders.

One example of his determination to follow through on initiatives that he believes will make a difference in the lives of others is the establishment of Freedom Road Transportation. This innovative volunteer, driver program -- spearheaded by April’s Hero -- is giving individuals the freedom to become more involved in their communities, attain employment, and have accessibility to medical appointments, shopping, and other social activities.

Nominations for OCCMHA 50th Anniversary Hero Awards are due the 1stof every month and are available online at www.occmha.org. Email completed forms to registerme@occmha.org or send completed forms to Debbie Wisser at 2011 Executive Hills Blvd., Auburn
