Apple Pie & Dessert Contest Returns to Art & Apples Festival

Organizers seek to find region's best, most creative and inspired apple pie and dessert recipes

Fritters, cookies and pies, oh my! Paint Creek Center for the Arts is calling all inspired, creative apple pie and dessert bakers in the region to compete in the Apple Pie & Dessert Contest with their crowd-pleasing recipes. The contest will take place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, during the 51st annual Art & Apples Festival in Rochester Municipal Park.

“Due to popular demand, we are excited to bring back the Apple Pie & Dessert Contest after a year hiatus,” said Tami Salisbury, executive director of Paint Creek Center for the Arts. “This feature has prompted many talented home pastry chefs and dessert enthusiasts to put the ‘apple’ in Art & Apples Festival, making it a great way to bring the community together and a tasty addition to the other attractions at the festival.”

Local celebrity judges will be in attendance to sample pies and desserts and award first, second and third place winners in each category. First place winners of each category will have their recipe and story featured on the official Arts & Apples website and receive a one-of-a-kind artist made dessert/pie dish. First through third place winners receive ribbons during the award presentation on the festival’s Main Stage.
