Arrest Made in Threats Prompting School Lockdown

The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office is reviewing the case for possible charges.

AUBURN HILLS, MI - A 39-year-old Flint man was arrested after making threats to a business that resulted in the lockdown of two Auburn Hills schools for several hours Monday.

Avondale High School and Auburn Elementary were placed on lockdown about 6:45 a.m. Monday as a precautionary measure after the suspect allegedly made threats at AirBossFlexible Products and Inalfa Roof Systems.

The businesses are located near the schools.

The threats to the businesses were made by phone, WJBK-TV reported. Students and staff at the schools were not threatened, police said.

“Threats to businesses or any facility is not acceptable,” Auburn Hills Police Lt. Jill McDonnell said. “It’s a crime to make a threat by phone.”

The case will be presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for a review of charges.
