Ascension Crittenton Hospital to be Rebranded with New Name
Ascension Crittenton Hospital will be rebranded Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital

Formal steps are almost complete to transition Ascension Crittenton Hospital into a Catholic facility and align the hospital with Catholic heritage in metro Detroit. As part of this transition, Ascension Crittenton Hospital will be rebranded Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital.
The name Crittenton will be retired with respect for its legacy of service to the community. The city name, Rochester, is being added to differentiate it from our other Providence named hospitals.
“Rebranding the hospital as Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital, signals the transition to a Catholic hospital and means increased clinical integration, physician integration, and service line integration with Ascension Providence Hospital,” said Joseph Cacchione, MD, Ascension Michigan's interim ministry market executive and president of Ascension Medical Group. “The Providence name has been familiar to metro Detroit since 1910, and has historical significance and a high-quality reputation.”

Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital will be adopting the Ascension Mission Statement; implementing a spiritual care program with chaplains available to tend to the spiritual needs of patients; establishing a vibrant ethics committee and educational programs; participating in the Catholic Health Association’s Community Needs Assessment process; adding a chapel to the facility; and will continue to follow the Ethical and Religious Directives while providing holistic, reverent care as a healing ministry of Jesus. These are just some of the actions which will specifically identify it as a Catholic health ministry.
In the coming months, exterior and interior signage, and branded materials, will be updated to reflect the name change. These decisions were made by the local Crittenton Hospital Board and Ascension Michigan Board.
