Big Beaver Methodist Church (BBUMC) Children Group Visits Masjid Mahmood Wednesday, November 8, 2017

Islam is the religion of peace and tolerance said Imam Shamshad a newly arrived Missionary in Detroit area of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community at Rochester Hills Michigan.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Metro Detroit hosted a group of children, their teacher and Pastors to an informal evening session at Masjid Mahmood on Nov 8, 2017. The 7th and 8th grade confirmation youth group of the Big Beaver United Methodist Church visited Masjid Mahmood along with Pastor Gregg Mayberry. This visit was part of the 3 to 4 visits each year in the two-year confirmation program so that the students may learn about other faiths as they make decisions about their own faith journeys and to gain knowledge and appreciation of other faiths. This visit was to learn about the fundamental Islamic concepts and teachings.
Imam Shamshad Nasir welcomed the guests to Masjid Mahmood at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Center located on Auburn Road in Rochester Hills. He then gave students a brief overview of basic beliefs and the five pillars of Islam. He started off by providing the meaning of the word “Islam” as peace and complete submission to the Will of God and “Muslim” as the follower of the religion Islam. " Islam is The religion of peace, tolerance and provides freedom of Faith to all, he added.

Imam Shamshad then went into a brief history of Islam and elaborated some of the sects within Islam. He differentiated Ahmadiyya Muslim Community as the followers of the Promised Messiah, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian whose advent has been prophesized invariably in all religious scriptures including Christianity and Judaism and by Holy Founder of Islam Muhammad peace be on him. He elaborated that according to the teachings of Holy Bible ( Old Testament and New Testament and The Holy Quran, Jesus Christ has died a natural death and that the second coming of the Jesus or Messiah is in the metaphorical sense.
Imam Shamshad Nasir then answered to the questions from the guests. Later tour of the Mosque was provided by the members of the community.
