Body Discovered in Woods May Be Woman Missing from Group Home
An Oakland County deputy discovered the woman's body in Oxford Township woods.

OXFORD TOWNSHIP, MI — A body of a woman who is believed to have walked away from an Oxford Township group home earlier this month was discovered in a wooded area Thursday, authorities said.
Theresa Adams, 63, who has been diagnosed with a schizoaffective disorder, walked away from the Deerwood Manor Group Home, 1095 Hummer Lake Road, on Aug. 5.
A deputy for the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office found the body in the woods near Hummer Lake and Metamora Road in Oxford Township around 11 a.m. Thursday, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The body matched the physical characteristics of Adams, but has not been positively identified.

The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy, but foul play is not suspected, the sheriff’s office said.
Officials previously said Adams easily became lost and disoriented when in unfamiliar areas. Adams had reportedly walked away from the group home before, but in the past was located within several hours of her disappearance.
