Celanese Corporation Will Match $12,500 For Grace Center of Hope

PONTIAC, Mich. — Grace Centers of Hope (GCH) today announced that Celanese Corporation, located in Auburn Hills, will match all donations made between December 1 and December 14 to GCH — up to $12,500 — to support the nonprofit’s comprehensive life skills programs for people battling homelessness and addiction. Donations will help provide food, clothing and shelter for more than 120 men, women and children who are currently enrolled in the one-year life skills programs at GCH, and are part of the nonprofit’s “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” match campaign challenge.

“This holiday season, the need to help Michigan residents facing addiction and homelessness is greater than ever, and we welcome the support of local businesses like Celanese in Auburn Hills to help Michigan families this holiday season,” said GCH CEO Pastor Kent W. Clark. “At Grace Centers of Hope, we are truly blessed by the community’s generosity, and by matching $12,500 in donations, Celanese is showing how a community can come together to help its most vulnerable people.”

In addition to providing food and shelter to those in need during the coldest months of the year, money donated will also support GCH’s one-on-one case management, mentoring and specialized classes for residents.

The “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” theme was chosen because every year during the holidays, all residents enrolled in the one-year program at GCH are encouraged to work on reuniting with their families and overcoming past family difficulties as they continue their paths to sobriety and begin to live a positive, healthy lifestyle.

Aimee Dahl, a Celanese employee and member of the Auburn Hills Volunteer Committee, said her past work volunteering with Grace Centers of Hope in the community inspired Celanese to offer the matching donation.

“In 2018, I first had the opportunity to volunteer with others from Celanese Auburn Hills and helped with some upkeep and beautification projects at various Pontiac residences in the village run by Grace Centers of Hope,” said Dahl. “It’s truly inspiring to work with some of the former residents who now help to coordinate volunteer activities that make these homes such a welcoming place for families and individuals in the GCH recovery program.”

GCH helps men, women and children transition from homelessness and addiction to stable housing, sobriety and employment. The nonprofit organization’s comprehensive programs –provide daily meals, clothing, personal hygiene, individual and group therapy, Bible study and church service, mentorship/discipleship, work therapy, and financial planning. In addition, program participants also have access to the Career and Education Center and free childcare at the Hands of Hope Childcare Center.
