Rochester Hills Councilmember is recognized during Monday night's meeting.
After four years of serving his city, Rochester Hills City Councilmember Vern Pixley participated in one of his last meetings on Monday night.

"It has been a very enlightening and entertaining four years," he said. "I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to serve my community as an elected official.

On Monday night, councilmembers took turns thanking Pixley. His last meeting will be in November, before his at-large replacement is sworn in.
"He has been a role model for me in terms of public service," said councilmember Michael Webber.
Council President Greg Hooper called Pixley the "ultimate professional businessman."
"If I needed sound, intelligent advice on an issue, I could count on Vern," Hooper said.
Pixley, along with his wife, Lori, received a commemorative plaque from the city in honor of his service.
"I look forward to sitting on the other side," Pixley said.
