Crumbley Parents Back In Court Tuesday For Pre-Trial Hearing

A Rochester Hills judge order the couple to stand trial after a two-day preliminary examination.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — The parents of Ethan Crumbley, who authorities accused of opening fire at Oxford High School on Nov. 30, killing four students and wounding seven other people, will be back in court Tuesday for a pre-trial hearing.

Jennifer and James Crumbley were ordered to stand trial after a two-day preliminary examination, during which prosecutors revealed new evidence accusing the couple of gross negligence in connection to the Oxford school shooting. Prosecutors read detailed passages from Ethan's journal, as Jennifer and James wiped tears from their face.

In one set of text messages Ethan shared with his friend, Ethan said he asked his father to take him to see a doctor, a request he said his father ignored.

"I actually asked my dad to take me to the doctor yesterday, but, he just gave me some pills and told me to 'suck it up,'" Ethan texted his friend.

Jennifer and James Crumbley were each charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter after authorities said their son, Ethan Crumbley opened fire in Oxford High School on Nov. 30. The couple went missing after authorities announced the charges. They were later found by officers hiding in an art studio near Downtown Detroit.

Their son, Ethan Crumbley, faces 24 charges including four counts of premeditated murder and terrorism after authorities said he opened fire at Oxford High School on Nov. 30, killing four students and wounding seven other people.

An Oakland County Judge recently denied a motion to transfer Ethan from the Oakland County Jail to a youth facility. He waived his preliminary exam and will head straight to trial. He is awaiting a trial date.
