Deck Art Displays Skateboard Art At 50 Rochester Businesses
See the work of more than 400 artists from across several states at this two-day event in May.

ROCHESTER, MI — This year’s annual Deck Art event will feature skateboard creations from more than 400 artists from all over metro Detroit, Illinois and Ohio. This is the eighth year for the event where artists submit one-of-a-kind artwork using skateboard decks as a canvas. The pieces will be displayed in more than 50 downtown Rochester businesses May 10-11.
“Deck Art continues to grow and evolve year after year,” said Jenna O’Dell, events coordinator at the Rochester Downtown Development Authority. “It’s expanded from an event that originally took place in just two downtown businesses, and we are honored that the previous owner of Deck Art, Linda Gallaher has let the event continue with the Rochester PSD.”
The Thursday Night Kickoff will take place 5-9 p.m. May 10 when attendees can preview Deck Art 2018 and can participate in street-side chalk art on East Fourth Street. Kids can also partake in a craft activity located outside 308 Main from 5-8 p.m.
Deck Art 2018 will continue Friday with the official Competition and Exhibition Crawl from 5-9 p.m.. The Crawl will begin at any participating business where attendees and artists can pick up the official crawl maps.
A panel of judges from Paint a Miracle in Rochester will select one winner from the five categories – elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and adult. Winning decks will be identified with a special ribbon.
