Please join us in a screening of "Heavy Metal in Baghdad", followed by a Meet & Greet and LIVE performance by Acrassicauda!
Thursday, March 1, 2012
7-10 PM Gold Rooms, OC
Refreshments will be served.
The first heavy metal group to emerge from Iraq, Acrassicauda performs music that reflects many of the same themes as other heavy metal artists: war, death, destruction - except their music rings with an unprecedented truth, because what they sing about they lived. In 2006, the band's four members became refugees in Syria and then Turkey. Finally coming to the United States in 2009 where they were granted refugee status. The documentary, "Heavy Metal in Baghdad" depicts their life and struggles while telling their moving story of pursuit of Heavy Metal dreams.
