The Meadow Brook Garden Club will meet Friday, October 28, 2016 at Meadow Brook Hall, 480 South Adams Road, Rochester MI 48309-1904. Coffee and refreshments will be served at 9:15 a.m. with program to follow at 10:00 a.m. featuring guest speaker, Keith Berven, the Vice President of the Southeastern Michigan Dahlia Society, who has been growing dahlias for over 15 years showing them at national Dahlia shows. Dr. Berven is an Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at Oakland University. Learn about the history of the modern dahlia including the sizes, forms and colors recognized by the American Dahlia Society and how to choose dahlia tubers, the methods for planting tubers, the care and growing of dahlias and options for storing tubers in the winter.Guests are welcome.
