For years I had the misconception that Douglas J Salons were simply institutes to train cosmetologists. But recently I was invited to the Douglas J Salon in Rochester and learned that yes, some of the locations are institutions to attain a cosmetology degree, but they also have traditional salons with experienced, professional stylists who have been in the business for years!
The easiest way to find the salon is by taking Walton Rd. to Village Ln. pass over Fountain Ln. and it’s on your left hand side. There is plenty of street parking and a few large lots throughout the Village.
Because Douglas J has cosmetology training institutes in other locations – their prices range based on the level of the stylists. Haircuts start at $48 for a level 1 stylist and increase to $82 for a level 4 stylist. For a full menu with prices, click HERE. When I visited this salon I got a blowout which included a scalp massage, wash, blow-dry and style. The cost for that service is between $29-$48 depending on your stylist. Then I got my makeup applied by Meghan Morin (who was friendly, talented and fabulous) and that was priced at $50. One of my favorite parts of this salon is that they use Aveda products which are organic and have pure flower/plant ingredients, which smell AMAZING!

The vibe at this salon was friendly, relaxing and clean…Douglas J was absolutely spotless! You could tell the employees were trained to give clients an exceptional experience – from offering me tea upon my arrival, to giving me a complimentary hand and arm massage while I was getting my hair done – they went above and beyond to ensure my experience was out of the ordinary. I was extremely happy with my services and look forward to returning for another day of pampering!
