Jimmy Buffett Latest To Have Strict COVID Policy For MI Show

CLARKSTON, MI —The DTE Energy Music Theatre announced Monday that Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band will play a show at the venue next month, and guests only will be admitted with printed proof they have received a negative COVID-19 diagnostic test or vaccination.

The concert is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Sept. 23 and is part of the Life On the Flip Side Tour 2021. Tickets are scheduled to go on at 10 a.m. Friday via Ticketmaster.

According to a release, all fans must provide printed proof of a negative COVID-19 diagnostic test taken within 48 hours prior to entering the venue. Or, they must be fully vaccinated (at least two weeks after the final dose), and provide printed proof of vaccination.

Unvaccinated fans under 12 also will be required to have printed proof of a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours before the event.

Meanwhile, all guests in the pit - at the front of the stage - must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The release also states that "the Artist encourages all guests to wear a mask for the duration of the event."

The COVID vaccination and testing rules are similar to those announced by Maroon 5 and Dead & Company last week ahead of their upcoming DTE Energy Music Theatre shows.

Jimmy Buffett, 74, comes to town after releasing two albums in 2020: an acoustic album called "Songs You Don't Know By Heart" and "Life On The Flip Side," the latter was Buffet's first studio album in seven years.

"We're excited to welcome Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band back to DTE Energy Music Theatre," said Howard Handler, president of 313 presents, which is promoting the Detroit-area show. "It will absolutely be 2021's must attend party of the year as great music and summer vibes take over the Motor City. You don't want to miss it!"
