Maroon 5 Fans Need COVID Vaccine Or Negative Test For Concerts
The band will play DTE Energy Music Center later this month. Dead & Company has a similar policy for its Sept. 10 date in Clarkston.

CLARKSTON, MI —Two acts scheduled to perform at the DTE Energy Music Center in Clarkston in the coming weeks -Maroon 5 and Dead & Company - have said they will require fans to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test in order to attend the concert.
Maroon 5 is scheduled to play at the venue at 7 p.m. on Aug. 23, and on Wednesday, the band published details of its COVID policy on social media. The band said the information also has been sent to ticket holders.
On Twitter, Maroon 5 said that beginning Aug. 16, fans in several cities only will be allowed to attend the band's concert with proof of a negative COVID-19 test result within 48 hours of the show or proof of a full vaccination.

The band provided a list of 19 shows between Aug. 16 and Oct. 8 where the policy will be in place.
"We want you to know that our top priority is the safety and well being of our fans as well as that of the hard working men and women who make these events possible," the band wrote on Twitter.

Dead & Company, which features former members of the Grateful Dead and other guests, also announced the COVID policy for its shows, including its Sept. 10 date in Clarkston, which begins at 7 p.m.
Like Maroon 5, the band will be require fans to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test result within 48 hours of the event in order to attend select dates. Children under the age of 12 will need proof of a negative test.
Additionally, all fans in the pit - in front of the stage - must be fully vaccinated. Children under the age of 12 will not be allowed in the pit.

The announcements come as COVID-19 cases are rising. According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Michigan reported a two-day total of 2,786 new coronavirus cases - an average of 1,393 a day - and 24 deaths for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
At the beginning of the week, MLive reported that 17 of Michigan's 83 counties were classified as "high" transmission, according to the CDC's four-level system. The state had another 42 counties rated "substantial," 20 rated as "moderate" and four rated as "low."
