Scheduled on Tues, Aug. 25 at 10 a.m., the webinar is for engaged citizens interested in learning more about school and gov't finance.

Michigan-based Munetrix, a data aggregator offering a comprehensive suite of reporting, management and forecasting tools designed to meet the financial management and transparency needs of states, municipalities and schools, will conduct a webinar on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 10:00 a.m. EST titled, “School and Government Finance 101”. The webinar is directed at engaged citizens interested in learning the basics of school and government finance. Bob Kittle, president of Munetrix, notes that public financing has an impact on all citizens.

“Almost every citizen has the potential to be a board member in the making, whether one’s interest is directed toward the school board, the city council or both,” Kittle said. “This webinar will address the foundation of public financing and help future policy makers, voters and concerned citizens understand and be informed about government spending decisions.”

The webinar will be conducted by Munetrix co-founders Buzz Brown and Bob Kittle. Following the webinar, participants will be better equipped to understand:

“Many people have difficulty understanding finance, but public sector accounting can be especially complicated, even for policy-makers tasked with approving multi-million dollar budgets. That’s why we have average citizens following their city and school district’s key data points, including spending, through Munetrix,” Kittle said. “Following the webinar, participants will better understand the basics of fund balance accounting and, for example, why even though a municipality or school district may have money in various funds, it may be restricted or non-spendable.”
