National Certification Old Hat for Rochester Main Street

ROCHESTER, MI – Rochester’s Main Street program has won national certification for the 11th consecutive year.

Rochester’s Downtown Development Authority has been a member of Main Street Oakland County since 2000. MCOC recently conducted an annual program assessment visitation and again gave the Rochester program the national seal of approval.

New DDA Chairman Mark Albrecht said national re-certification for an 11th year “speaks volumes to what we’ve accomplished together in Rochester, a great place to live, eat, shop, dance and enjoy.”

“Downtown Rochester continues to do an excellent job of comprehensive, ongoing, community involved downtown management using the National Main Street philosophy,” Bob Donohue, Main Street Oakland County program coordinator, said in a statement.

“They are recognized as county, state and national leaders,” Donohue said. “It was obvious throughout the recent annual evaluation by MSOC that Downtown Rochester is blessed with outstanding leadership at the city, DDA board and the DDA staff. They are definitely not resting on their laurels.”

Donohue noted “a feeling of excitement” with new leadership responding to challenges ahead “to keep downtown the outstanding community and regional asset that it is.”
