Oakland County Man Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash Near MSU Dorm: Reports

One person was arrested in connection to the crash, but no charges were immediately filed as police were preparing a report, reports said.

EAST LANSING, MI — An Oakland County man was killed in a hit-and-run crash near a Michigan State University dorm early Sunday morning, according to multiple reports, citing police.

Salvino Vackaro, 20, of Oxford, was hit and killed by a car on East Michigan Avenue near University Drive in East Lansing around 1 a.m. Sunday morning, reports said.

The driver never stopped after the crash, reports said.

Police later found the vehicle that struck Vackaro unoccupied, roughly a mile away from the scene of the crash, reports said.

Officers then searched the area with the help of a canine unit and arrested a person in connection to the crash, reports said.

No charges were immediately filed in connection to the crash, as police were preparing a criminal report for the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

The crash happened just north of the Butterfield Hall student dormitory on the Michigan State University campus.
