Oakland County Man Tried Meeting Child To Give Her Cocaine: Sheriff

PONTIAC, MI — An Orion Township man was arrested after he tried meeting up with a 15-year-old girl and giving her cocaine, the Oakland County Sheriff's office said.

Jacob Kile Gooden, 35, was charged with possession of a controlled substance under 25 grams, and accosting, enticing, or soliciting a minor for immoral purposes, officials said. Both charges carry a maximum sentence of four years in prison upon conviction.

Gooden was placed in the Oakland County Jail and given a $25,000 cash bond, officials said. His next court date is scheduled for Sept. 27.

"Any attempts to victimize children will be vigorously investigated and we will seek the most serious criminal charges possible," Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. "We appreciate the partnership with our community and the good work of our Deputies."

Officials said Gooden planned to meet the young girl Monday afternoon at a gas station at Baldwin and Montcalm in Pontiac shortly after 1 p.m. He also told the young girl he was bringing cocaine along with a vape pen, officials said.

Gooden, however, was exchanging text messages with officials and when he showed up at the gas station, police immediately arrested him without incident, officials said.

Police found the cocaine inside Gooden's car, officials said. As Gooden was placed in custody, he told officers that he set up the encounter to buy the girl school supplies, officials said.
