Oakland University to recognize exceptional nurses at the 27th annual Nightingale Awards
OU's School of Nursing and its Board of Visitors will honor Michigan's top nurses on May 7 at the San Marino Club in Troy.

Oakland University’s School of Nursing and its Board of Visitors are proud to honor Michigan’s top nurses at the 27th Annual Nightingale Awards for Nursing Excellence. The only event of its kind in the state, the Nightingale Awards will be held on May 7, 2015 at the San Marino Club in Troy. The awards were created to promote nursing’s critical role in healthcare and the array of ways that nurses care for America’s citizens.
More than 500 nurses, physicians and administrators, as well as family members and supporters, will attend this year’s awards ceremony. This esteemed event includes an elegant sit-down dinner and silent auction. High bidders at the auction could go home with a 40” smart TV, golf and spa packages, exquisite jewelry and many other prize packages. Fox 2 News weekday morning host and Oakland University alumna, Amy Andrews will emcee this year’s awards ceremony.
Each of nine Nightingale Award winners receives a check for $1,000, a bronze statue of Florence Nightingale and a pin. The eight runners up each receive a plaque and a pin. Nurses were nominated by their peers, supervisors, friends and patients for superior service and contributions in eight areas of expertise. The 2015 Nightingale Awards for Nursing Excellence are presented by Beaumont Health. Other sponsors include St. John Providence Health System, Detroit Medical Center, St. Joseph Mercy Oakland and many others. Hour Detroit Magazine is the People’s Choice Award sponsor.
