Oakland University to recognize exceptional nurses at the 28th annual Nightingale Awards

The only event of its kind in the state, the Nightingale Awards will be held from 5-8:30 p.m. on May 5, at the San Marino Club in Troy.

Oakland University’s School of Nursing and its Board of Visitors are proud to honor Michigan’s most outstanding nurses at the 28th annual Nightingale Awards for Nursing Excellence®.

The only event of its kind in the state, the Nightingale Awards will be held from 5-8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the San Marino Club in Troy. The awards were created to promote nursing’s critical role in health care and the array of ways that nurses care for America’s citizens.

More than 500 nurses, physicians and administrators, as well as family members and supporters, will attend this year’s awards ceremony. The event includes an elegant sit-down dinner and silent auction. High bidders at the auction could go home with a 40-inch smart TV, golf and spa packages, exquisite jewelry and many other prizes. Fox 2 News hosts Roop Raj and Amy Andrews, an OU alumna, will co-emcee this year’s awards ceremony.

Each of 10 winning recipients receives a check for $1,000, a bronze statue of Florence Nightingale and a pin. The 11 runners up each receive a plaque and a pin. Individuals were nominated by their peers, supervisors, friends or patients for superior service and contributions in eight areas of expertise. The 2016 Nightingale Awards for Nursing Excellence® is presented by Beaumont Health. Other sponsors include St. John Providence, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, Detroit Medical Center, Crittenton Hospital Medical Center and many others.
