Oakland University sponsors first-ever Michigan New Teacher Conference May 2
The conference brings together early career and aspiring teachers to network with experienced educators.

The Oakland University School of Education and Human Services has partnered with SAGA Educators and The Meemic Foundation to sponsor the inaugural New Michigan Teacher Conference. This free conference brings together early career and aspiring teachers to network and learn alongside experienced educators. The event will take place from 8 a.m. – noon on Saturday, May 2, at Meemic Foundation headquarters in Auburn Hills. The Meemic Foundation is located at 1685 North Opdyke Road.
Along with helping new teachers gain resources to advance in their careers, the conference will allow educators at all levels to share expertise on teaching, leading and learning.
“A conference like this makes perfect sense and will strengthen our profession,” said C. Robert Maxfield, interim dean of the School of Education and Human Services at Oakland University. “New and aspiring teachers will be able to ask questions and learn from teachers who have been in the field for some time. All the participants will be able to take what they’ve learned and use it to benefit students.”
