Official Call to Sidewalk Chalk Artists (K -12) for Art & Apples Festival

Registration open: Students invited to transform the walkway of the park into an open-air gallery featuring original works of chalk art

Paint Creek Center for the Arts is excited to announce an annual feature of the Art & Apples Festival :The Sidewalk Chalk Art Competition – where students will transform the walkway of the park into an open-air gallery featuring original works of chalk art.

The competition is open to students of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties who are in Kindergarten to 12 grade. Applicants must be available to translate their designs on a designated 8’x8’ of allotted sidewalk space square with supplied chalk between 4pm – 7pm on Friday, September 9th and attend an award ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 10th. The work will be on display for the entire weekend of the festival for patrons to view.

All interested participants must complete the application form below by Friday, September 2, 2016. Please note that you must be ready to begin your design on Friday, September 9th at 4pm and that you must be able to complete your design in a maximum of three hours.

Sidewalk chalk art designs will be judged by age group (grades K-3; 4-5; 6-8; and 9-12) and the grand prize winners in each age category will be awarded a gift certificate (valued up to $170) towards one art class of their choosing at Paint Creek Center for the Arts, 407 Pine Street, Rochester, Michigan. https://www.pccart.org/art-app...
