OU theatre program brings 'The Adventures of Pinocchio' to the stage

Performances are May 20-22, in Varner Recital Hall on OU's campus.

Once again this year the theatre program at Oakland University is finishing up its performance season with a production for families. Audiences of all ages are invited to attend one of four performances of the musical The Adventures of Pinocchio.

The familiar story of a wooden puppet who yearns to be a real boy is based on Carlo Collodi’s classic tale. This fast-paced version has music and lyrics by Neil Bartram and a book by Brian Hill. Even the youngest children will be enthralled by this colorful production as Pinocchio tumbles from one disastrous situation to another in search of adventure – only to discover that, in the end, all he really needs is an unselfish heart and the love of his father. The show illuminates the bond between parents and children.

The Adventures of Pinocchio will be performed at 10 am and 7 pm on Friday, May 20; 4 pm on Saturday, May 21; and 2 pm on Sunday, May 22 in Varner Recital Hall. Those who would like to, are welcome to attend the Friday, 7 p.m. performance in pajamas!

Varner Recital Hall is located on the Oakland University campus. Maps of the campus are available at oakland.edu/map or by searching for "Varner Hall" on a smartphone. Ample free parking will be available.
