• OU's Lowry Center partners with Oakland Schools to offer Great Start Readiness Program (oakland.edu) — Rochester families with four-year-olds will soon have another no-cost pre-K option as Oakland University's Lowry Center in Pawley Hall adds a Great Start Readiness Program classroom for the 2026-27 school year. Serving up to 20 children with full-day sessions and optional care, the program is open to Michigan residents, prioritizes families with higher needs, and doubles as a training site for OU education students.
   

• Mixed reactions as Rochester approves downtown social district (clickondetroit.com) — Rochester has approved a new downtown "social district" that will let adults carry alcoholic drinks in designated outdoor areas while they stroll, shop, and attend events. • After five seasons at Rochester High, Doug Steinard ready to help Wayne State women's soccer program set sail (theoaklandpress.com) — A former Rochester High and Rochester Christian University soccer standout, Doug Steinard is now helping launch Wayne State's first women's soccer program, bringing heavy Oakland County and Rochester ties onto the roster. Several of his former Rochester-area players, including standout goalkeeper Alice Max, are joining him as the new team prepares for its season opener later this month.
