Pontiac Home Depot Brightens Up The Holidays At Grace Centers of Hope
Donated Christmas lights will be hung by employee volunteers on 12 rehabilitated homes for families living in Little Grace Village
On Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, 16 Pontiac Home Depot employee volunteers helped brighten up the holiday season for residents enrolled in the Grace Centers of Hope (GCH) After-Care Program by hanging thousands of white Christmas lights on 12 homes in Little Grace Village. In addition to providing employee volunteers, the Pontiac Home Depot donated the hanging supplies, including the white Christmas lights to decorate the homes, and gave Christmas presents to the families.
Residents in the GCH After-Care program are formerly homeless and/or addicted men and women who have completed the One Year Life-Skills Program. After graduation, they can choose to remain at GCH by living in a healthy, drug-free and supportive community called Little Grace Village. Little Grace Village, which is located in downtown Pontiac, is the nonprofit’s pioneered approach to prevent homelessness that includes dozens of multi-family rehabilitated homes for individuals and families who continue to receive ongoing support through GCH.
Giving hope to the helpless since 1942, Grace Centers of Hope is considered one of the leading faith-based organizations in Southeastern Michigan, confronting daily the issues of homelessness, addiction, education, parenting, poverty, abuse and spiritual emptiness. On any given night, Grace Centers of Hope provides transitional shelter to 150-200 men, women and children, in addition to serving more than 125,000 meals each year.
