Retain Rochester Hills Mayor, Bryan Barnett

Vote Nov 3rd for the right candidate.

Mayor Bryan Barnett has done this city proud, and his slogan ”let’s keep a good thing going “ is the perfect slogan for what Rochester Hills needs. Mayor Barnett has a proven record that clearly shows with the progression, stability and the respect that the name Rochester Hills displays. Our city is thriving in the business sector, residential, financial, morally and spiritually. We, as residents of Rochester Hills can hold our heads high and be proud of where we live. Some cities do not have that to offer, and even through the bad times Mayor Barnett kept our heads held high.

Some people in our city are on the opposing side of my opinion, and on that wagon are some who feel that the City Charter is being violated by the Mayor running as a ”write-in” candidate, and that is absolutely preposterous. He did not breach the charter nor does he have his name on the ballot (per the City Charter). What he is doing is letting the residents have their say by way of their right to vote. This gives the voters the privilege to vote for the best candidate especially when you have a line-up of candidates listed on the ballot that are not capable of a smooth transition to take the helm. We have to be very careful with who can maintain the up-hill progression of this wonderful city. The City Charter rules indicate term limits for elected officials, however it does not limit the right of the voting population the chance to maintain the good. Let it be known that the City Attorney as well as an attorney that has practiced election laws over 40 years has given their blessing (after review of the City Charter) that Mayor Barnett can indeed run as a ”write-In” Candidate. The biggest reason for the grumblings about the City Charter is that the opposition/opponents thought they would be a shoe-in for the position and when our mayor decided to run as a write-in candidate (with the urging of the Rochester Hills residents) it brought insurmountable trepidation to the other candidates.

Rochester Hills needs continuity and especially now after sliding through a recession in good shape. Mayor Barnett has proven over and over again that he has the city’s best interest as his priority. We need to “write-in” Bryan Barnett on the ballot November 3rd. LET’S KEEP A GOOD THING GOING.
