Rochester Hills Says Hello, Goodbye to Some Youth Council Members

Youth Council members attend government meetings and serve as youth ambassadors for the city.

For 15 Rochester Hills youths, there's no better way to learn how government works than to be a part of the process.

That's the intent of the Rochester Hills Government Youth Council, a group created by the to promote youth involvement in local government.

Youth Council members represent all four City Council districts and various area high schools. They are required to live in Rochester Hills and may be entering any high school grade. They attend meetings and serve as ambassadors for the youth in the city.

Recently, City Council said goodbye to some members of the Youth Council while welcoming others. Here's a look at the changeover between the 2010-11 Youth Council and the 2011-12 Youth Council.

  • Vice-Chairperson Aly Difilippo, Rochester High School, is attending Loyola University.
  • Secretery Kaitlyn Forbes, Notre Dame Prep, is attending University of Michigan.
  • Kelsey Jackson, Stoney Creek High School.
  • Harvey Li, International Academy, is attending University of Pennsylvania.
  • Sresht Rengesh, Avondale High School, is attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
