Rochester Hills Teen to Play for World-Renowned Conductor

A gifted Rochester Hills teenager will be featured in a rare online master class with Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Music Director of Montréal’s Orchestre Métropolitain, the Metropolitan Opera, and The Philadelphia Orchestra, presented for FREE by The Philadelphia International Music Festival on July 19th, 2020 at 7pm ET.

Jackson Naglick is 16 years old and a 2020 YoungArts Award Winner, identified by the National YoungArts Foundation in Miami as one of the most accomplished young artists from across the country in the visual, literary, and performing arts.

That joke about “how do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice!” Jackson’s been there and done that, a solo recital in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in New York City. He was 14 years old at the time.

Sunday evening he’ll put his keyboard skills to the scrutiny of an orchestral superstar called a ”visionary” by critics and audiences alike, “one of the brightest stars in a new generation of conductors,” and cheered for his “energy, exuberance and connection to his orchestra:” Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who, coincidentally, also began his musical trajectory with piano as a young child and conducted virtually all the major Canadian orchestras while still in his twenties, and now takes the stage leading the most famous orchestras in the world.
