Support Military and Veterans by Getting a Car Wash

JAX Car Wash Auburn Hills location to raise money this weekend for Michigan Armed Forces Hospitality Center

By Tom Lang

The good people at JAX Car Wash in Auburn Hills, near the Oakland University campus, are helping the non-profit Michigan Armed Forces Hospitality Center – also called the Michigan Freedom Center – with a program that provides financial donations from every car wash during Friday -- Sunday, Sept. 17-19. Extra donations can occur as well based on the type of car wash you buy.

A portion of every car wash will go to the 501 C 3 organization Michigan Freedom Center, and additional amounts will also be donated based on upgrades such as ‘Unlimited Club’, the ‘Plus Package’ and the ‘Everything Package’ to name a few.

When any Veteran or active-duty military person (and their traveling families) visits the MI Freedom Center at either the McNamara or North terminal at Detroit Metro Airport, they get the chance to unwind and rest in a comfortable military lounge in the airport. It’s a small, extra way supporters can show respect and say thank you to those who have served us. The MI Freedom Center Care Team also assists families picking up the remains of their loved one coming home to their final resting place.

Through the financial support of the general public, the Freedom Center volunteers can be your face and hands at giving service to the guests who first served us in defense of our nation. The MI Freedom Center is a service-oriented daily reminder that our freedom isn't free. This is the 10th Anniversary year of the MI Freedom Center serving military at Detroit Metro Airport.

“The Freedom Center gives us that moment of decompression…because you can come home a wreck,” said Joe Munoz, a combat Veteran from Michigan. “You know you’re in a safe place, a quiet place, a respectful place. The volunteers are amazing… they have a sense like they know (what to do) to make our couple of hours at the Freedom Center more relaxing and a benefit to us. That’s what I love about the Freedom Center. We’re so grateful we have the opportunity to have it at the airport.”
