Two other people were arrested in connection with the deadly shooting, though they have not yet been formally charged.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — A teenager has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of an Oakland County Sheriff's officer.

Karim Blake Moore, 18, of Clinton Township, was charged with three counts of lying to police and one count of resisting arrest. He was placed in jail with a $100,000 bond after he pleaded not guilty to the charges. His next court date was scheduled for Friday.

If Moore is released from jail, he must wear a GPS tether and stay under house arrest.

Moore told investigators he was inside the stolen SUV that the shooter(s) got out of and opened fire on Deputy Bradley J. Reckling, striking him multiple times including the head and chest, in the area of Park Grove and Schoenherr in Detroit last Saturday night, according to prosecutors.

The suspects then ran away from the SUV before they were eventually caught roughly three blocks away on a porch of a Detroit home of someone they didn't know, according to prosecutors.

Moore told investigators he was inside the SUV but didn't fire the shots, according to prosecutors.

Two other people were arrested in connection with the deadly shooting, though they have not yet been formally charged. Two of the three suspects arrested in the shooting were previously out on bond on charges in connection with a carjacking and police chase back in March.

Police said Reckling was among three auto theft unit deputies following a stolen Chevy Equinox in Detroit that was taken from the Red Oaks Waterpark in Oakland County sometime between 1 and 5:15 p.m. last Saturday, according to police.

While Reckling was following the Equinox, the SUV suddenly stopped and the people inside the SUV got out and opened fire, fatally striking Reckling, according to the sheriff's office.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard called the shooting "an ambush."
