Thieves Use Fake Money To Buy Car From Rochester Hills Man: Report

The Rochester Hills man was swindled out of $12,000​, Fox 2 Detroit reported.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A Rochester Hills man was swindled out of $12,000 when two thieves used counterfeit money to buy his 2012 Buick LaCrosse on Sunday, according to a report from Fox 2 Detroit.

Once the man realized the money was fake, he went to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, but officials said there's not much they can do since he received payment for the car, even though the money was fake, the report said. In other words, the car wasn't technically stolen, officials said.
