The Village & Turning Point Partner for September Donation Event
The Village of Rochester Hills will be hosting the drive-by donation event on Friday, September 17, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
This September, The Village of Rochester Hills will be hosting a drive-by donation event on Friday, September 17, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. to help support Turning Point Shelter in Macomb County. Household products, personal hygiene products, and infant and children’s item donations are requested to support survivors’ needs onsite at the shelter and once they are on their own. In addition, those that donate to Turning Point will receive a FREE sweet treat courtesy of Nothing Bundt Cakes in Rochester Hills while supplies last.
Turning Point is the only domestic shelter in Macomb County and one of only 4 in Metro Detroit that specializes in meeting the needs of domestic violence victims. They provide community education, leadership and advocacy toward ending domestic and sexual violence. They offer shelter services such as Youth and Family Programs, Community Advocacy Program, 24-Hotline, Supportive Housing and Support Services (Counseling) and additional services such as Prevention Education, Forensic Nurse Examiner’s Program, Macomb County Domestic Violence Council, Sexual Assault Response Team and their Second Hand Rose resale shop.

It impacts people of all ages, races, denominations, educational and socioeconomic levels,” says Karen Bates-Gasior, Turning Point’s Chief Development Officer. “Everyone knows someone that this type of violence has impacted. We are grateful to the community and the Village of Rochester Hills for raising awareness and providing support for survivors.”
Turning Point will use the following list of donation items to care for the 50+ rotating guests that come through the shelter monthly, with over half being children, as well as those who have recently departed the shelter.

“Our goal at The Village of Rochester Hills in 2021 is to focus on bringing joy and hope to people in our neighboring communities. We are happy to partner with Turning Point Women’s Shelter to help bring awareness and support to the women and children who need it most,” stated Lindsey Aikens Hefter, Marketing Officer for Robert B. The Village of Rochester Hills is located at 104 S. Adams Rd at Adams and Walton Road in Rochester Hills. Volunteers from the Turning Point Women’s Shelter in Macomb will be onsite collecting items and distributing FREE sweet treats from Nothing Bundt Cakes in Rochester Hills while supplies last. Donations can be made in either a walk-up or drive-by fashion from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021.
