The Women’s Fund presented AAUW of Rochester with a $500 grant toward the presentation of a $tart $mart Salary Negotiation Workshop for undergrad students at Oakland University.
The purpose of the workshop is to give college women the skills and knowledge to negotiate a fair salary in their first post college job. The Women’s Fund’s mission is to give women “a purse of their own” and the awarding of this grant will further that goal for college women starting a new career.
The presentation of the grant check occurred at the annual Rochester AAUW Holiday Party by Penny Crissman of the Women’s Fund and accepting were the National College Conference of Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) committee members- Ruth Johnson, Sharon Postnieks & Josetta Wood along with the $tart $mart Workshop facilitators Diane Kosuda and Dr. Beverly Paurazas.
The American Association of University Women and the AAUW Educational Foundation advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.
“We are grateful to The Women’s Fund for their financial help in presenting the first Oakland University Start Smart Salary Negotiation Workshop. The workshop will prepare these women college graduates for their first salary interview enabling them to negotiate a fair salary and benefits,” said Sharon Postnieks of American Association of University Women of Rochester.

Through grant-making, the Fund provides ongoing and future support for programs that aid women while preserving and managing its donations in perpetuity by spending only the fund’s income and annual earnings.
