In addition, the restaurant regularly displays works by regional artists. Through April 1, customers can view "Wisdom is Never Free," an exhibit of current paintings by Ann Arbor artist M. Royal Schroll.
Regular patrons of the restaurant may recall a 2009 exhibit by Schroll, whose commitment to the planet and agricultural influence continue to evolve and resonate.Schroll's paintings use eroded soils collected from roads near farm fields, as well as wild grasses and a mix of oil-based impasto and varnishes.
Of the exhibit's theme, the artist explains, "The ego-based science that dominated food production over the last decade has resulted in monumental changes to our planet. I think it is time we start growing all of our food using wisdom-based science."
"I intend these works to be a reminder that the planet does not need us as much as weneed it. Even with today’s wealth of technology, good planets are hard to find."
