Royal Oak Schools of Choice Program Opens May 1

Royal Oak Schools will begin accepting Schools of Choice applications May 1 for the 2012-2013 school year. The district will accept kindergarten through third grade eligible applicants, on a per building space available basis. Eligible K-3 students must reside in Oakland County. Once a student is enrolled as a Schools of Choice student in the district he/she may continue to attend, provided the enrollment is continuous.

Applications will be available May 1 through August 3 on the district website,

Royal Oak Schools K-12 program addresses the needs of all students with highly-qualified, caring teachers helping children reach their potential. For the 2012-2013 school year, Royal Oak will provide all-day kindergarten in each of its six elementary schools.

There is world language instruction for kindergarten through 12th grades and an expansive fine and performing arts program. In addition, the District utilizes a broad array of technology.

Helen Keller Elementary School is an official International Baccalaureate World School offering the Primary Years Programme. Academically, Royal Oak’s MEAP, MME and ACT test scores compare favorably with other Oakland County districts.
