Art Van Furniture To Host Community Blood Drive With American Red Cross

With the goal of increasing blood donations in the critical winter months, Art Van Furniture has partnered with the American Red Cross to host a community blood drive on Thursday, December 29 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Art Van Furniture’s Warren location at 6500 E. 14 Mile Road.

Knowing that you have helped save a life in the process is one of the most rewarding feelings,” said Kim Yost, CEO of Art Van Furniture. “Art Van Furniture is honored to join with the American Red Cross for another year and help provide millions in need the chance of life. To some it may seem like a small and simple gesture, but to one person it can mean the world.”

The American Red Cross is the largest single supplier of blood and blood products in the United States, collecting and processing approximately 40 percent of the blood supply for patients in approximately 2,700 hospitals nationwide. A single donation can help save the lives of up to three people. Eighty percent of the blood donations given to the American Red Cross are collected at mobile blood drives set up at community sites, while the remaining 20 percent are collected at American Red Cross donor centers.

Donors must be at least 17 years old (or 16 years old with parental consent), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and present a valid picture ID.
