Boy Scout Troop 1634 Has 4 New Eagle Scouts
"In life, they will all contribute to something great," adviser said of young men achieving Scouting's highest honor.

ROYAL OAK, MI — Four young men from the Troop 1634 at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica recently achieved the highest rank in Boy Scouts of America — that of Eagle Scout. The performance-based award is achieved by only about 5 percent of Boy Scouts, according to the National Eagle Scout Organization.
The new Eagle Scouts are Brian Palmer and David Chutorash, both 18 and both of Royal Oak, and twins Alexander and Matthew Schienke, 18, of Warren. They join an esteemed group that has included former President Gerald Ford, film director Steven Spielberg and astronaut. Neil Armstrong.
In all, Troop 1634 has seen eight young men become Eagle Scouts.

To attain the performance-based rank, a Scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service and outdoor skills, according to the National Eagle Scout Association. They pass specific tests organized by merit badges, and at the end of the process complete a community service project.
