Carnival Marks Resumption of Friday Hours at Ferndale Library
Voters approved a millage increase last month that allowed library trustees to restore Friday hours; Sunday hours may be coming back, too.

FERNDALE, MI — Library patrons can again browse the library shelves on Fridays after voters approved a small millage increase on Aug. 2 that boosted the Ferndale Area District Library’s operating budget. The change takes place at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9.
The library had been closed on Fridays for about two years due to a drop in tax revenues tied to the 2008 recession, according to a post on The Daily Tribune. A recent survey showed residents wanted the library to resume Friday business hours, prompting the Board of Trustees to put the millage proposal on the ballot.
To celebrate the resumption of Friday hours, the library will give away door prizes and host an outdoor carnival beginning at 4 p.m.
