City Accepts $3.8M Bid for Golf Course Housing Development
Voters approved the sale of the Normandy Oaks golf course in 2014. Still to be worked out is the park plan.

A 10-acre plot on the former Normandy Oaks golf course will soon be sprouting homes.

The Royal Oak City Commission accepted a $3.8 million bid from Robertson Brothers Homes, a developer with a history of development in the city, to buy the 10-acre development tract.
The next highest bid to buy the land was $3.2 million, submitted by Pulte Homes, The Daily Tribune reports.

Development plans call for the construction of 78 townhouses, which will sell for around $240,000, and two-story single-family residences.
City Commissioner David Poulton said maximizing the sale of the property is “one of the most important decisions this body has made in a long time.”
Robertson Brothers, which has been building houses in Royal Oak since the 1940s, is completing development of 93 homes in three locations in the city.
Still to be decided is how park developments at the former golf course will shake out. Much depends on whether the city can work out a deal to partner with Oakland County to develop a park.
