Countdown to Sunshine: Cool, Wet Week Ahead in Royal Oak

The National Weather Service promises there’s sun in metro Detroit’s seven-day forecast, but you’re likely to need your umbrella and rain boots for the next couple of days.

And even when the sun does peek out, it’s going to be cool, with highs in the upper 40s and 50s and lows in the mid- to low-30s.

Thunderstorms are expected to continue through 2 a.m. Monday, with additional precipitation of a half to three-quarters of an inch possible.

Here’s what’s ahead:

Monday: A chance of showers before 1 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 1 p.m and 2 p.m, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 64. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 18 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tuesday: A chance of showers after 8 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 54. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 13 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. West southwest wind 9 to 13 mph.

Wednesday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 51. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 49.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 51.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 36.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 37.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 56.
