County Arson Unit Assisting in Royal Oak Fire Investigation

A structure fire at In Style Custom Cabinets last week appears to have been related to a burglary, Royal Oak police said.

Police and the city fire department responded to the fire at the business, located at 4300 Rochester, at 7 p.m. Feb. 6 and remained on the scene until 5:52 a.m. the following day.

Further investigation revealed the business had been broken into and several items had been taken.The cause of the fire is unknown, but the Oakland County Arson Investigations Unit is assisting in the investigation.

Breaking & Entering

3200 block of Greenfield, 2-16-15, 8:00 a.m. – 4:54 a.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect attempted to break into her apartment. The suspect damaged the door lock but was unable to gain entry. 15-7384

Larceny

25352 Woodward (LA Fitness), 2-27-15, 10:30 a.m. – 11:20 a.m.: Complainant reported he left his car and house keys unsecured in the men’s locker room. When he returned he discovered they were stolen by an unknown suspect. 15-7472

3200 block of Sylvan, 2-16-15 – 2-23-15, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect stole an undisclosed amount of currency from a safe in his home. Officers checked the residence and did not find any evidence of a break in. The homeowner hired contractors to renovate an area of his home during the time period of the theft. 15-7655

700 block of N. Edison, 2-27-15 – 2-28-15, 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Complainant reported he left his wallet unsecured in his room. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect had stolen it. The residence is shared by multiple tenants. 15-7658
