FBI Agent Shot During Sting Operation in Southfield

Agents still on the scene. A target of the investigation also was shot and is believed to be dead in the parking lot of a hotel.

An FBI agent involved in a child trafficking sting in Southfield was shot Friday night at the Marriott hotel on Northwestern Highway.

A target of the investigation also suffered a gunshot wound, apparently turning his weapon on himself after shooting the undercover agent, an FBI agent told OaklandCounty115.com. That man is dead. The shooting took place at about 8:30 p.m. in a back parking lot of the hotel.

FBI, State Police and Southfield police remain on the scene. The agent is expected to recover. Fox 2 Detroit reports that the agent was struck in the vest.

The agent who was shot was part of a task force investigating human trafficking in children.
