High Winds Expected in the Suburbs Wednesday

Be careful, especially if you're driving a high-profile vehicle. Also, colder weather with a possibility of snow in the next couple of days.

Much of southeast Michigan is under a wind advisory through 8 p.m. Wednesday, with sustained winds of 30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph, the National Weather Service said.

Tree damage and scattered power outages are possible, and driving high-profile vehicles will be difficult, weather officials said.

Affected counties include Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Washtenaw.

Winds are expected to diminish Wednesday evening.

Scattered thunderstorms should end Wednesday morning, the weather service said. Though not severe, some are still capable of producing hail of less than an inch in diameter.

Here’s the forecast through the weekend:

Wednesday and Wednesday night: Scattered showers, cloudy with a high near 63; windy with a south-southwest wind 25 to 30 mph in the afternoon, with gusts as high as 46 mph; 50 percent chance of precipitation. Mostly cloudy overnight and breezy, with a southwest wind 17 to 20 mph and gusts as high 29 mph; low around 40.

Thursday and Thursday night: Increasing clouds and a 40 percent chance of showers, with a high near 52; windy, with a southwest wind 17 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Cloudy with an overnight low around 33; 30 percent chance of rain and snow showers; breezy, with a west wind 11 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Friday and Friday night: Cloudy, then becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 43; north wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Mostly clear overnight, with a low around 25.

Saturday and Saturday night: Sunny with a daytime high near 40; partly cloudy overnight with a low around 27.

Sunday and Sunday night: Mostly sunny, with a daytime high around 44; mostly cloudy overnight with a low around 30.
